ShinetsogGeni.D is a world-renowned master of the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), celebrated for his exceptional technique and artistic nuance. Hailing from Mongolia, he has captivated audiences worldwide, earning multiple Grand Prix titles at prestigious international festivals and competitions.
Coming from a family of artists, ShinetsogGeni.D was deeply influenced by his mother, who nurtured his passion for music. At the age of seven, he asked for a horse as a gift, but instead, his mother brought him a beautifully crafted horsehead fiddle—an instrument that would shape his life's journey.
What sets ShinetsogGeni.D apart is his ability to blend tradition with innovation. While deeply rooted in Mongolian heritage, his repertoire extends beyond traditional pieces to include classical works and international melodies, showcasing the versatility of the Morin Khuur.
The Morin Khuur, an iconic symbol of Mongolian culture, has a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Known for its unique construction—featuring strings made from horsehair and played with a bow strung with the same material—it holds a special place in Mongolia’s musical and cultural identity. In recognition of its significance, the instrument was inscribed on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.
Through his artistry, ShinetsogGeni.D continues to preserve and elevate the legacy of the horsehead fiddle, bringing its hauntingly beautiful melodies to audiences across the globe.
